Amnesty International Canada says it was targeted by China-sponsored cyber attack

The hack left Amnesty International's Canadian branch offline for nearly three weeks after it was identified in OctoberAmnesty International Canada says the hack "will not intimidate us"

Amnesty International Canada secretary general Ketty Nivyabandi said the searches in their systems were specifically and solely related to China and Hong Kong, as well as a few prominent Chinese activists.

"As an organisation advocating for human rights globally, we are very aware that we may be the target of state-sponsored attempts to disrupt or surveil our work," she said. Amnesty is among organisations that support human rights activists and journalists targeted by state actors for surveillance.
