House Deputy Majority Leader and ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo asked the government to establish a National Cyber Security Office that will protect the country from hackers or cyber terrorists.Tulfo said the series of hacking attacks on several government agencies showed how vulnerable government agencies are to hackers.He said that many countries are already establishing cyber security agencies since almost all transactions and communication are now online or digital.
Tulfo plans to file a bill to combat hackers and cyber terrorists.'Surveillance and intelligence gathering, monitoring and quick damage control and retrieval of lost or stolen data or files will be the primary task of the said agency,' he said.Also among the agency's tasks is identifying hackers and cyber syndicates and terrorists.'No digital file is safe anymore from professional hackers, that's why we need to protect our nation from this new threat,' Tulfo said.
