Alabama Superintendent of Education, Dr. Eric Mackey announced at a Wednesday press conference that an ongoing investigation into an attempted cyber attack that occurred on June 17 is underway:
The attack occurred on June 17th and was intercepted by department Information services and the hack was stopped. There was some data breached and the department is still working to identify what information was breached.ALSDE has established a webpage with information, which will be taken down for several hours for pre-planned upgrades.On June 17, Information System staff at the Alabama State Department of Education interrupted and stopped an attack on the department’s computer system.
